ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier
The main qualifying pathway for non-Full-Member nations to reach the ODI World Cup, tracing back to the ICC Trophy (first held 1979) before being renamed the ICC World Cup Qualifier. From 2007 the pathway was fed by the ICC World Cricket League, a divisional structure for associate/affiliate nations; this was abolished ahead of the 2023 World Cup cycle and replaced with a three-tier system (the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, League 2, and Challenge League), with the final Qualifier tournament still deciding the last World Cup places.
Sourcing caveat: This lineage has been renamed and restructured multiple times (ICC Trophy -> World Cup Qualifier fed by the World Cricket League -> Super League/League 2/Challenge League system from 2019) — treated here as one historical thread rather than several unrelated competitions, per that history. Associate nations have publicly criticised further changes reported around 2025 as reducing their access to the World Cup pathway.
