Group stage (Group A) — 1983 Cricket World Cup
June 18, 1983 · County Ground, Derby
Result: SLSri Lanka — Sri Lanka won by 3 wickets. NZNew Zealand 181 all out (58.2 overs), SLSri Lanka 184/7 (52.5 overs). June 18, 1983 · County Ground, Derby.
One of Sri Lanka's best results of the tournament, built on de Mel's five-wicket haul and half-centuries from Dias and Kuruppu. Bruce Edgar's exact dismissal for New Zealand is garbled across sources and not confirmed to this round's standard, though the team total (181 all out) is corroborated.
