Played at the Sydney Cricket Ground before a crowd of 25,386, Australia were dominant, leading 18-8 at halftime and running out 30-13 winners. Australia scored four tries to Wales' one, with Michael Cronin in outstanding kicking form (9 from 10 attempts) while Wales captain David Watkins was perfect off the tee (5 from 5). Australia also won the forward battle, taking the scrum count 13-8.
Australia made changes from their previous outing, recalling halfback Tom Raudonikis and winger Johnny Rhodes to the run-on side.
