Match report
The touring Kangaroos, as part of their 1975 World Cup tour, beat the Kiwis at Carlaw Park, Auckland, in front of 18,000. Australia led 17-6 at halftime and extended their advantage in the second half. Australia scored four tries -- Michael Cronin, Ray Higgs, John Quayle and Ian Schubert -- with Cronin adding six goals. New Zealand did not cross for a try, their points coming entirely from four goals kicked by fullback Warren Collicoat.
New Zealand won the penalty count but lost the scrum count, indicative of a game in which Australia's forward dominance and clinical finishing outweighed New Zealand's territorial advantage. During the match, Australia's Tom Raudonikis replaced fullback Graham Eadie, with Ian Schubert shifting to fullback, and Denis Fitzgerald came off the bench for Lew Platz.
