Classification Round (9th-12th place), 1976 Olympic Basketball
July 25, 1976 · Montreal Forum, Montreal, Canada
Classification Round (9th-12th place), 1976 Olympic Basketball: Puerto Rico 111–91 Japan, at Montreal Forum, Montreal, Canada on July 25, 1976.
Egypt's withdrawal collapsed this bracket from its normal 4-team shape to 3 teams: Mexico (Group A 5th) received a bye straight to the 9th-place decider rather than playing a semifinal (its would-be opponent, Group B 6th-place Egypt, having withdrawn), which is why only this one semifinal and the 9th-place game were played — no 11th-place game exists because Japan's would-be opponent (Egypt) had already withdrawn; Japan was placed 11th and Egypt 12th without a further game.
