BRBlackburn Rovers — 3 english top-flight champions (1911-12, 1913-14, 1994-95).
Club history
Blackburn Rovers were formed on 5 November 1875 following a meeting arranged by former Shrewsbury School pupils John Lewis and Arthur Constantine, making them one of the oldest football clubs in England. The blue-and-white halved shirts gave rise to the nickname "Rovers" or "the Blue and Whites." The club moved to Ewood Park, on the banks of the River Darwen, in 1890 and has played there ever since. Blackburn were founder members of the Football League in 1888 and were an FA Cup powerhouse in the competition's early decades, winning six titles between 1884 and 1928, including a hat-trick of successive victories from 1884 to 1886.
After decades of mid-table Football League football, Rovers suffered a long absence from the top division following relegation in 1966, spending 26 years outside it. Everything changed in 1991 when local steel magnate Jack Walker took control and bankrolled a rapid rise, culminating in the appointment of Kenny Dalglish as manager and the club-record signing of striker Alan Shearer. In 1994-95, Blackburn won the inaugural Premier League title on the final day of the season, denying Manchester United, in one of English football's most romantic modern title stories, funded almost entirely by Walker's fortune.
The success proved difficult to sustain: Rovers were briefly relegated in 1999 before returning and enjoying a stable Premier League existence for over a decade, including a League Cup win in 2002. Following Walker's death in 2000 and the eventual sale of the club to Indian poultry conglomerate Venky's in 2010, Blackburn's fortunes declined sharply, with relegation from the Premier League in 2012 and further relegation to League One in 2017 before a return to the Championship, where the club has remained a mid-table fixture into the 2020s amid continued fan frustration with ownership.
