Ground facts
| Opened | None (Genuinely conflicting sources, disclosed rather than resolved. Wikipedia and a football-stadium reference site both date construction to 1935, built by French colonial authorities. A stadium database, independently re-checked via direct WebFetch for this entry, instead states the ground was inaugurated in 1997 and built in just over 70 days, noting it also hosted the 1997 Pan-Arab Games -- neither source frames its date as a renovation or rebuild of the other's, so which reflects the ground's true origin (or whether a 1935 stadium was later entirely rebuilt in 1997 under the same name) could not be determined.) |

Name history
Rugby league history
Beirut Municipal Stadium is a large multi-purpose venue used mainly for football, home to Al-Ansar Club. Its three recorded rugby league matches were all part of the Mediterranean Cup, a regional competition contested by rugby league nations around the Mediterranean basin: a France rout of Serbia and a Lebanon win over Morocco on the same day in 2003, and a narrow Lebanon win over Italy in 2017. Lebanon has a comparatively strong rugby league tradition for the region, fed by a large Lebanese-Australian diaspora, and this stadium was one of the country's few venues large enough to host such internationals alongside its main Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium.
