Rugby league history
The complex in Kissimmee, Florida opened in March 1997 as Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, a $100 million, 230-acre multi-sport facility, and was renamed ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in February 2010. It hosted the United States national rugby league team for 2000 Rugby League World Cup qualifying fixtures in November 1999 against Japan, Canada and Lebanon, plus a heavy 0-110 loss to England in October 2000 -- a minor, specialist use of the venue absent from Disney's and ESPN's own official histories, known only through rugby league sources.
