Oldham — 3 Super League/British top-flight titles on record (most recently 1956-57).
Club Background
Oldham R.L.F.C., nicknamed the Roughyeds, was founded in 1876 in Oldham, Greater Manchester, making it one of rugby league's oldest clubs. Officially rebranded ORLFC 1876 Ltd in 2023 to honour its heritage ahead of its 150th anniversary in 2026, the club has won four league championships (1904-05, 1909-10, 1910-11, 1956-57) and three Challenge Cups (1898-99, 1924-25, 1926-27), plus lower-tier titles. After decades of financial and on-field struggles, including liquidation in 1997, Oldham won promotion from League 1 in 2024 and now competes in the RFL Championship, the second tier of English rugby league, playing home matches at Boundary Park, which it shares with football club Oldham Athletic.

Club history
Oldham RLFC was founded in 1876 and joined the Northern Union breakaway from rugby union in 1895, going on to become one of the sport's most successful early clubs. The team won the Challenge Cup in 1898-99 and claimed league championships in 1904-05, 1909-10 and 1910-11, cementing its status as a powerhouse of the Edwardian era. Further Challenge Cup success followed in 1924-25 and 1926-27, and the club added a fourth league title in 1956-57. In its early decades the club moved between several grounds, playing at Sugar Meadow from 1876 and Clarksfield from 1878, before settling at Watersheddings from 1889.
Oldham struggled to sustain its early success through the mid-to-late 20th century, though it won lower-division titles along the way. The club left Watersheddings in 1994 and moved to Boundary Park, the home of Oldham Athletic AFC. Financial difficulties culminated in the club going into liquidation in 1997; it was reformed later that year as Oldham Roughyeds, taking on the nickname that has stuck ever since, and the reformed club shuffled between divisions and, at times, grounds, including spells away from Boundary Park at Hurst Cross Stadium, Whitebank Stadium and Sedgley Park.
The club returned to Boundary Park in 2023 and, ahead of its 150th anniversary, rebranded as ORLFC 1876 Ltd to celebrate its Victorian-era founding. Under chairman Bill Quinn, whose William Quinn Group has held a majority stake since 2007, Oldham won the League 1 title in 2024 with a near-perfect record, earning promotion to the Championship. The club consolidated in the second tier, finishing fourth in the Championship in its first season back in 2025, and continues to compete in the Betfred Championship as of the 2026 season, playing home matches at Boundary Park.
Sourcing caveat: Some ground-move dates (Hurst Cross, Whitebank Stadium, Sedgley Park spells) are drawn from a single source and weren't independently cross-verified, and no sourced figure for Boundary Park's total rugby league games hosted or a rugby-specific record attendance was found.
