Toulouse Olympique — 0 Super League/British top-flight titles on record.

Club Background

Toulouse Olympique were founded in 1937, one of the pioneering clubs of French rugby league (jeu à XIII) formed in the years after the code split from union under Jean Galia. Historically based at Stade des Minimes, the club has played its home matches at Stade Ernest-Wallon (shared with rugby union side Stade Toulousain, capacity c. 19,500) since 2020. After building through the British league pyramid, Toulouse were promoted to Super League for the first time in 2021, but were relegated after a single season at the top in 2022, finishing bottom (12th) with 5 wins from 25 games. Following three further Championship campaigns — including two Grand Final losses — they won the 2025 Championship Grand Final and were confirmed as promoted back to Super League for the 2026 season alongside York Knights.

Club history

Toulouse Olympique were established in 1937, playing their first league fixture on 24 October 1937, a 14-44 loss to RC Albi at the Stade des Minimes ground that remained their home for over 80 years. The club was an early force in the French domestic game, reaching a cup final in 1938-39 and finishing French Championship runners-up in 1944-45 and 1945-46, before winning domestic titles across the 1960s-70s. A 1995-2002 spell saw the club rebranded "Toulouse Spacers" under aerospace-industry sponsorship. In the 2000s the club reached the Challenge Cup semi-final in 2005 (lost to Leeds Rhinos), reportedly a first for a French club, and won further Elite One Championship domestic titles in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Toulouse entered the British league pyramid, competing in the Championship (tier two) around 2009-2011, before re-entering via League 1 (tier three) in 2016 and winning promotion to the Championship. They built steadily through the Championship (fifth in 2017, third in 2018, second in 2019) before an unbeaten 2021 season culminated in a Championship Grand Final win and promotion to Super League for 2022 — their first-ever season in the English top flight. That campaign brought notable results, including beating reigning treble champions St Helens 22-20 in March 2022, but ultimately relegation, confirmed after a 24-14 home loss to Catalans Dragons in August 2022, with the club finishing bottom having won only 5 of 25 matches.

Back in the Championship, Toulouse twice fell short of an immediate return: losing the 2023 Grand Final 14-18 to London Broncos, and losing again in the 2024 Grand Final. They finally won promotion by beating York Knights in the 2025 Championship Grand Final, and were confirmed among the clubs promoted into an expanded Super League for 2026. Club leadership changed in November 2023 when long-serving president Bernard Sarrazain — a decade in charge, credited with the 2022 Super League promotion — stepped down and was succeeded by Olivier Dubois. Sylvain Houles has been head coach across the Super League relegation season and the subsequent Championship campaigns.

Sourcing caveat: As of this page's last verification, Toulouse have been confirmed as promoted into Super League for the 2026 season — our SUPER_LEAGUE_LADDERS/finals-series data currently only covers the 2025 season, in which Toulouse played in the Championship (second tier), not Super League, so they don't yet appear in this site's Super League ladder/finals pages. The exact score of the 2025 Championship Grand Final (Toulouse beat York Knights, reported as 10-8) comes from a single source (Wikipedia) and hasn't been independently cross-checked against a second outlet. Early history detail (1930s-70s results, the "Spacers" rebrand years, the 2009-2011 Championship spell) is also drawn from Wikipedia only, without independent cross-checking.
