Rugby league history
Biesland Sports Complex in Delft has hosted Netherlands national rugby league team fixtures since 2004, including matches in the 2004 Rotterdam Cup tournament and two editions of the Griffin Cup, an annual fixture against Germany running since 2013 (Germany won 70-16 in 2014 and 8-6 in 2016, both at this venue). Rugby league remains a developing sport in the Netherlands; the national team went through a hiatus in 2008-2009 over federation disputes before rebuilding and returning to international competition in 2013.
