Name history
Rugby league history
This municipal football ground in Hoek van Holland was the home of amateur football club Hoekse Boys and hosted the Netherlands national rugby league team for two European qualifying fixtures: a 2005 European Championship qualifier against Georgia and a 2006 World Cup qualifier against Russia, both losses. Dutch rugby league has historically relied on borrowed football grounds for international fixtures given the sport's small scale in the country.
