Rugby league history

This one-off international was staged by promoter Moore Sports International as the first of a planned three-year annual series between England and New Zealand at Mile High Stadium, intended to raise rugby league's profile in North America ahead of a planned US/Canada-hosted World Cup. The subsequent two planned Denver Tests were cancelled after the promoter failed to pay fees owed to the England RFL and New Zealand Rugby League; New Zealand stated publicly they would not return to Denver and arranged a replacement fixture against Tonga instead. Beyond this single Test, the stadium's identity is entirely American football (Denver Broncos), with earlier tenancies from MLS's Colorado Rapids and Major League Lacrosse's Denver Outlaws.

Home of the NFL's Denver Broncos; formerly also home to MLS's Colorado Rapids (2002-2006) and Major League Lacrosse's Denver Outlaws (2006-2019).
