Rugby league history
Stade de Fargues, in Le Pontet on the outskirts of Avignon, has served as home to the local rugby union club. Its one confirmed rugby league appearance came on 3 December 1986, when a composite side, Le Pontet XIII, hosted the touring Australian Kangaroos as part of Australia's 1986 European tour, losing 5-42 in front of 2,500 fans. This was a one-off tour match rather than part of a regular competition, and the venue does not appear to have hosted rugby league again.
