Name history
- Stade Ernest-Wallon — since 4 December 1983
Rugby league history
Stade Ernest-Wallon is primarily the home of Stade Toulousain in the Top 14 rugby union competition, built after the club's previous ground, Stade des Ponts Jumeaux, was expropriated for motorway construction. It first hosted rugby league for the 2000 World Cup, staging a pool match between Papua New Guinea and South Africa. Toulouse Olympique — founded in 1937 and previously based at the Stade des Minimes (Stade Arnauné) — agreed to move its professional fixtures to the larger Stade Ernest-Wallon in 2020, with the arrangement with Stade Toulousain formalised on 15 April 2021 through to the end of the 2029 season. The club won promotion to Super League for the first time via the 2021 Million Pound Game, played its first Super League season here in 2022 before relegation, and returned to Super League for 2026 following its 2025 Championship Grand Final win over York. Rugby League Project records 81 rugby league matches at the venue, including France, England and other international fixtures alongside Toulouse's Championship and Super League home games.
Primarily a rugby union venue — the home ground of Stade Toulousain (Top 14 and European Champions Cup) since 1983, and by far its dominant use.
