Name history
Rugby league history
Stade Jean-Bernege is the modest home ground of Tonneins XIII, one of the earliest amateur clubs to affiliate with French rugby league, founded in 1934 in the Lot-et-Garonne town of Tonneins. The ground is named for Jean Bernege (1919-1984), described in a local museum record as an administrator of the local rugby league club. Given its small scale, this appears to be a genuine but low-profile local ground rather than one built for representative fixtures.
