Rugby league history
A modest but historically active south-west France venue, repeatedly used as a stop for major touring sides via regional select teams (Villeneuve, Aquitaine, South West France) rather than the full French national team — hosting the Kiwis (1951), Kangaroos (1959, 1982) and a Papua New Guinea Kumuls touring side (1991) among others. Its recorded top crowd of 3,579 came for Aquitaine's 1982 match against the touring Kangaroos. The venue remains Villeneuve XIII's home ground in France's Elite 1/Super XIII competition, with renovation works to the main stand and hospitality areas reported as under way or planned as of 2024.
