Rugby league history
Built primarily as a national athletics venue for the 1994 Jeux de la Francophonie, this stadium near Paris hosted rugby league twice in the 1990s: a 1994 France Presidents' XIII loss to the touring Australian Kangaroos, and a 1997 France-Ireland draw that drew the venue's recorded top crowd of 4,250. The venue was renamed Essonne Stadium in December 2025, well after both these matches.
