1928 NFL Season — Final Standings
Final standings for a season that became the sharpest illustration yet of the win-percentage championship rule: Frankford actually won more games than Providence (11 to 8), but the Steam Rollers' ties-excluded winning percentage (.889 to .786) gave them the title regardless — the two teams' head-to-head meeting that November effectively decided it. This was the last season under the original Pottsville Maroons identity before their 1929 relocation to Boston, and the final season for the Detroit Wolverines, a two-year-old franchise whose players were largely absorbed into the New York Giants for 1929.
