Name history
Rugby league history
Arawa Park is primarily and historically a horse racing venue, today branded Arawa Park Racecourse and home to the Rotorua Racing Club. Its rugby league use was occasional and tied to touring-team fixtures before Rotorua had a dedicated rugby stadium: a Bay of Plenty representative side lost to the touring NSW side in 1922, and to a touring French side in 1964, both one-off representative matches rather than a home tenancy.
