Rugby league history
An agricultural showground in Hawera, Taranaki, this venue's sole recorded rugby league fixture was Australia's 34-0 win over Taranaki on 28 June 1961, a provincial fixture on the Kangaroos' 1961 tour of New Zealand, in front of 600 spectators, confirmed via Rugby League Project's own venue records. Several individual and team match records set that day remain the ground's standing records, since it is the only rugby league match ever played there.
