Rugby league history

A major early New Zealand rugby league Test venue within Auckland Domain, hosting a dense run of Northern Union tour Tests and Australia internationals between 1910 and 1922, including consecutive big-crowd fixtures in Sep 1919 and Jul 1920. Carlaw Park took over as Auckland rugby league's primary home from 1921, after which Domain Cricket Ground's rugby league use tailed off, with a final recorded match in 1933 (South Auckland v West Coast).

Primarily and originally a cricket ground, still part of the Auckland Domain sports precinct today (the Cricket Ground Pavilion there is a Heritage New Zealand listed building).
