Name history
Rugby league history
Firhill Stadium in Glasgow, primarily the home of Partick Thistle F.C. football club since 1909, hosted Scotland's first-ever rugby league home international in 1996, a win over Ireland, and later staged matches during the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. No rugby league club or franchise was ever based there -- the connection is entirely the Scotland national team across a run of European internationals between 1996 and 2000. The ground was renamed the Wyre Stadium at Firhill under a sponsorship deal from June 2023.
