Rugby league history
Paterson Park in Ngaruawahia is the home ground of the Turangawaewae Rugby League Club. Its most notable recorded match, independently confirmed via Wikipedia's account of the tour, was a 30-12 win for the touring Great Britain Lions over Waikato on 28 July 1924; its second recorded match, a 1936 South Auckland-Taranaki fixture, is documented only by Rugby League Project.
