Rugby league history
Sardis Road, the home of rugby-union side Pontypridd RFC, hosted a single rugby league international: on 1 November 2009, Wales beat Ireland 42-12 in front of 2,143 fans in a 2009 Rugby League European Cup group-stage match. Wales went on to finish their group unbeaten and won the tournament overall, their fifth European Cup title. It is a notable case of a rugby union ground hosting a rugby league international.
