Rugby league history
Catalans Dragons have periodically staged home fixtures away from their usual Perpignan base to grow rugby league's following elsewhere in the south of France, of which this Montpellier fixture is one instance — a strategy that later also produced Catalans fixtures at Barcelona's Camp Nou and Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, and (Wigan's opponents on this occasion, coincidentally) a 2026 Wigan-Catalans fixture at Paris's Stade Jean-Bouin.
The long-standing home of Montpellier HSC (football); also a 2007 Rugby World Cup and 2013 Heineken Cup rugby union venue.
