Rugby league history

One of Welsh rugby union's most storied grounds, famous for Llanelli RFC's wins over touring sides including the All Blacks in 1972, Stradey Park hosted a single rugby league international during the 2000 Rugby League World Cup: Wales beat Lebanon 24-22 on 2 November 2000 in front of 1,497 spectators, with Wales captain Iestyn Harris involved in all five of his side's tries. The ground closed in November 2008 and was demolished for housing in 2010-2012, with its goalposts preserved as memorials in Llanelli.
