Rugby league history

A short-lived club ground for one of the earliest attempts to establish Northern Union rugby league in South Wales. The Barry Railway Company offered special travel facilities from Cardiff and the Rhondda Valleys to draw spectators to matches here, but attendances declined over the course of the season and Barry RLFC folded after this single campaign, having beaten Aberdare 9-5 in a Challenge Cup qualifying tie along the way.
