Ground facts
| Opened | unknown (A likely location error: this site's data, inherited directly from Rugby League Project's own venue page, places Victoria Square in Cambridge/Hamilton, Waikato. However, the two matches recorded here are 1927 Buller Region fixtures against West Coast and Canterbury, and multiple independent sources -- a Wikipedia account of the 1927 season placing a Canterbury-Buller match specifically at Westport, and Buller Rugby Union's own history page naming a Victoria Square, Westport as their representative ground -- strongly suggest the true location is Westport, Buller District, on the West Coast, roughly 500km from Waikato, not Cambridge or Hamilton. This is disclosed as a probable data error in the underlying source rather than silently corrected, since it could not be confirmed with certainty. Scores also conflict with a separate Wikipedia account of a West Coast-Buller match that season (44-15 at Greymouth), which may or may not be the same fixture.) |

Name history
Rugby league history
Victoria Square hosted two 1927 Buller Region inter-district rugby league fixtures, against West Coast and Canterbury. Although Rugby League Project's own data places the venue in Waikato, the matches' geography and independent sources point strongly to Victoria Square, Westport on the West Coast instead -- a discrepancy disclosed here rather than resolved with confidence either way.
