In the 23rd minute a brawl broke out from a broken-down scrum and referee Greg McCallum sent all four combatants to the sin bin simultaneously -- Steve Walters (QLD) and Ben Elias (NSW), who clashed with each other, and Paul Harragon (NSW) and Martin Bella (QLD), whose exchange is still replayed as one of Origin's all-time brawls; rugbyleagueproject.org's own box score lists only two of the four, but this is treated as an incomplete extract rather than a real conflict, since two independent sources corroborate all four. This was Bob Lindner's last State of Origin match. Queensland's own player-of-the-series award for 1993 (era-name 'Wally Lewis Medal,' now retrospectively the Ron McAuliffe Medal) went to Bob Lindner.
