Rugby league history

The traditional Queensland fortress for State of Origin, regularly selling out at 52,500. Hosted the 2021 NRL Grand Final (Penrith Panthers def. South Sydney Rabbitohs) when the decider was relocated from Sydney due to COVID-19 restrictions — the first Grand Final held outside Accor Stadium/Stadium Australia since 1999. Record crowd is cited as 52,540, for State of Origin Game III, 12 July 2017. Built on the site of the earlier Lang Park (1914-2001), which hosted Brisbane Rugby League grand finals from 1958 and was the venue where Wally Lewis earned the nickname "The Emperor of Lang Park" for his State of Origin heroics.

Also branded "Brisbane Stadium" for events without rugby league naming-rights applicability, e.g. the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
