Featherstone Rovers — 0 Super League/British top-flight titles on record.
Club Background
Featherstone Rovers RLFC were founded in 1902 (reformed 1906, joined the Northern Union in 1907) in the small West Yorkshire mining town of Featherstone, and have played at Post Office Road ever since — one of English rugby league's longest continuously used grounds. Despite the town's small population, "Fev" built an outsized reputation as a Challenge Cup power, lifting the trophy three times (1966-67, 1972-73, 1982-83), cementing their identity as rugby league's classic small-town giant-killers. The club has never played in Super League, and came agonisingly close to promotion via the Million Pound Game twice in the early 2020s. As of this page's last verification the club's status is in serious flux: it entered administration in December 2025 and was denied entry to the 2026 Championship season.

Club history
Featherstone Rovers were established in 1902, reformed in 1906, and joined the Northern Union in 1907, quickly becoming the professional rugby league focus of the pit town of Featherstone. Post Office Road has been the club's home for over a century (capacity roughly 9,850).
Featherstone's defining achievement is its Challenge Cup record: three final wins — 1966-67 (beat Barrow 17-12), 1972-73 (beat Bradford Northern 33-14), and 1982-83 (beat Hull FC 14-12 in front of a crowd of 84,969) — plus other final appearances, including a 1952 runners-up finish to Workington Town and a 1974 final loss to Warrington. This cup pedigree, achieved by a club from a town far smaller than most of its top-flight rivals, is the foundation of Featherstone's reputation as one of rugby league's great giant-killers.
Featherstone were never part of Super League — when the sport reorganised in 1996 the club was left in the second tier, and they have remained outside the top flight ever since. In the modern Championship era, Featherstone twice reached the Million Pound Game (the promotion play-off final) — losing 24-6 to Toronto Wolfpack in 2019 and 34-12 to Toulouse Olympique in 2021 — extending their long wait for a first-ever Super League campaign.
Most recently, the club's on-field near-misses have been overtaken by an off-field crisis: Featherstone Rovers entered administration in December 2025, and in January 2026 the RFL confirmed the club would not be permitted to compete in the 2026 Championship after the sole ownership bid failed to meet governance requirements. The RFL has said it is working toward a sustainable return of professional rugby league to the town, though this had not materialised as of this page's last verification.
Sourcing caveat: Featherstone's Challenge Cup win years are 1966-67, 1972-73 and 1982-83 — a commonly-assumed 1959 win could not be confirmed by any source checked and is not repeated here. The club's current status (administration, excluded from the 2026 Championship) reflects this page's research-time verification and should be checked for a more current update, since the RFL has said it hopes to support a return but has given no confirmed timeline.
