Bega Recreation Ground
Bega, New South Wales, Australia
Bega Recreation Ground, Bega, Australia — opened Not confirmed, 3 rugby league games hosted, home of Bega Roosters (Group 16 rugby league).
Sourcing caveat: The ground's current cited capacity (approx. 5,000) is below the 8,000 crowd recorded for the 1993 semi-final, likely reflecting either a temporary overflow configuration on the day or a later reduction in capacity -- neither explanation is confirmed. The two 1995 quarter-finals sharing an identical 6,500 attendance figure is plausible for a same-day doubleheader rather than necessarily an error, but we found no independent source to confirm either figure individually.

Name history
Rugby league history
Bega Recreation Ground's three recorded matches are all NSWRL pre-season Tooheys Challenge Cup knockout fixtures from the early-to-mid 1990s, part of a deliberate strategy to tour marquee Sydney and Canberra club fixtures to regional NSW towns and build the code's country profile. The largest, on 28 February 1993, was a semi-final in which the reigning-contender Canberra Raiders beat Illawarra Steelers 28-14 in front of 8,000 -- Canberra went on to lose the final. A doubleheader on 18 February 1995 brought two quarter-finals to the ground on the same day: North Sydney beat Penrith 19-18, and Brisbane beat Newcastle 28-8, both recorded with an identical attendance of 6,500. The ground remains an active rugby league venue today, home to the Bega Roosters and periodically used for NRL pre-season trials (Storm v Raiders in 2011, Panthers v Eels in 2020) and Group 16 grand finals.
