Rugby league history

Belmore has been the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs' home since 1936, reshaped from its original circular oval layout into a rectangular ground in 1968 and given a major redevelopment completed in 2011. The Bulldogs shifted the bulk of their home fixtures to the larger Sydney Olympic/Accor Stadium after the 1998 season, but returned to playing one or two premiership home games a year at Belmore from 2015 under a long-term lease, keeping the club's spiritual home in regular NRL use rather than reducing it to a training base only.

Belmore's main modern use outside rugby league is as the Bulldogs' administrative and training headquarters.
