Name history
Rugby league history
Bennett Oval, a suburban ground in Whyalla Stuart primarily used for Australian rules football, hosted a relocated NRL home game for the Adelaide Rams on 20 June 1998, reportedly chosen partly due to a shared employer/sponsor link between Whyalla's BHP steelworks and the visiting Illawarra Steelers. Illawarra won 39-4 before a crowd of 5,153.
