Rugby league history
Bowral Oval (now Bradman Oval) is primarily famous as a cricket ground associated with Sir Don Bradman, who grew up nearby and first played there before starring for Bowral Cricket Club. Its one recorded rugby league match was on 30 May 1965: an NSWRFL State Cup Round 2 fixture in which Balmain beat a Southern Division representative side 19-6 in front of 2,500 fans, a rare rugby league incursion at a ground otherwise dedicated to cricket.
