Rugby league history
A community/multi-field sporting complex that served as a home venue for the Ipswich club (Brisbane Rugby League, later Queensland Cup) through the 1990s and 2000s — solid provincial semi-professional level, with no Tests or grand finals. Standout fixture: the 2008 Queensland Cup semi-final, Ipswich def. Northern Pride 34-16, 30 Aug 2008. The grandstand/clubhouse is named after Senator Neville Bonner. Also hosted a 2012 Murri Rugby League Carnival and (a different code) a 2016 women's football international, Western Pride v New Zealand. Ipswich Jets shifted more prominence toward North Ipswich Reserve in their later NRL feeder-affiliation era; the exact chronology of the club's use of the two grounds is not clearly dated in sources found.
