Name history
Rugby league history
Gilbert Oval is Goondiwindi's principal rugby league venue, on Andersen Street near the Queensland-New South Wales border. It is the regular home ground of the Toowoomba Rugby League's Goondiwindi Boars for club competition, and has periodically hosted higher-profile fixtures away from the Boars' own games: Queensland Cup matches in 1999, 2018 and 2025, plus community rugby league events such as the Goondiwindi Border Rugby League Knockout. Rugby League Project's three-match total likely reflects only representative-level fixtures rather than the Boars' full home schedule. Who or what 'Gilbert' refers to could not be identified from any source found.
