Rugby league history
Glen Innes Showground is a heritage-listed regional showground dating to 1874, known for its well-preserved Federation-era buildings. Its one recorded rugby league match came on 13 May 1936, part of a Queensland touring series: Northern Division (NSW) lost 9-48 to QLD Firsts in front of 1,800 fans, another instance of a representative touring fixture being staged at a showground's arena rather than a dedicated rugby league ground.
