Name history
Rugby league history
Grafton Showground's four recorded matches, spanning 1929 to 1963, are all touring-team fixtures against the Clarence River/North Coast representative side, the correct NSW Country regional side for Grafton's own district. The largest crowd, 6,955, came on 16 July 1946 when North Coast lost 8-53 to a touring Great Britain Lions squad -- independently confirmed by Wikipedia's own 1946 Great Britain Lions tour article, which reports an identical date, score and attendance. The other three matches -- a 1929 loss to a touring NSW representative side, a 1954 loss to Great Britain, and a 1963 loss to New Zealand -- rest on Rugby League Project's records alone; we found no independent secondary source to cross-check their attendance figures.
