Name history

    Rugby league history

Hickey Oval is the home ground of the Dysart Bulls in the Central Queensland mining town of Dysart. Rugby League Project's three recorded matches are all higher-tier state fixtures rather than Bulls club games: two 1980s State League matches (Central Queensland v Norths, and v Ipswich) and a 2021 Queensland Cup match between Mackay and Norths. The ground's ongoing role as Dysart's home venue is well documented separately -- it hosted the 2019 Central Highlands A Grade grand final, where the Bulls ended a 27-year premiership drought in front of an estimated 2,000 spectators -- though that and other local finals are not captured in Rugby League Project's database, which appears to track only representative-level fixtures. Who the ground is named after could not be identified from any source found.
