Rugby league history
Jack Manski Oval, in the Kirwan suburb of Townsville, was developed by the Townsville Brothers club on 20 acres bought from Kern Brothers Earthmoving after Brothers relocated from Queens Park and Gill Park in the early 1980s, and opened in August 1984. It has been Brothers' home ground since, and became the home venue of the Townsville Blackhawks when that Queensland Cup club was admitted to the competition in 2015 (first Cup match: a win over the Mackay Cutters, 7 March 2015). Rugby League Project's tracked results for the venue run mainly from 2013 (National Youth Competition fixtures) through the Blackhawks' Queensland Cup and QRL Women's Premiership era into the early 2020s, alongside occasional higher-profile fixtures such as a 2015 NRL pre-season trial between North Queensland and Wests Tigers.
