Rugby league history
A Northern Rivers regional ground with a long rugby league history under its original name, later renamed Oakes Oval and rebuilt into a significant multi-purpose venue hosting first-class and international cricket (including a 1978-79 World Series Cricket match and a 1993 Women's ODI) and, since 2014, home ground of the NSW Country Eagles (National Rugby Championship, rugby union).
