Name history
Rugby league history
A Rockhampton, Queensland venue used exclusively for early-1950s international rugby league touring fixtures against a Central Queensland representative XIII, drawing large one-off crowds typical of the novelty of a touring side visiting a regional centre. All three recorded matches are tour games: France (1951), New Zealand (1952), and a short-lived USA touring side (1953, the top recorded crowd of 5,332). This last match's final score is disclosed as an unresolved discrepancy: Rugby League Project's own results page -- independently re-checked via a direct fetch -- lists Central QLD 33 def. USA 26, while a Wikipedia summary of the same American All Stars tour instead states USA won 26-23. Both sources agree on the date (5 July 1953) and the 5,332 crowd figure. No capacity, floodlight, or playing-surface information was found.
