Rugby league history
Norwood Oval is one of South Australia's oldest and most storied grounds, the continuous home of the Norwood Football Club since 1901 and known commercially today as Coopers Stadium. Its rugby league connection is minor and incidental: it hosted two one-off international/representative fixtures during rugby league touring seasons, a South Australian side against the touring Balmain club in 1949 and against the French Chanticleers in 1955, but has never been a regular rugby league venue.
