Name history
Rugby league history
Named after Ronald 'Dookie' Crowe (1932-2013), a West Wyalong-raised prop who represented NSW and Australia and later coached his hometown club to three premierships, this ground hosted two prestige one-off fixtures decades apart: a 1967 Riverina representative match against the touring New Zealand Kiwis, and a 1995 Tooheys Challenge Cup semi-final between Cronulla and the Sydney Bulldogs. Sources differ on Crowe's exact Test cap count (five per Wikipedia, ten per a newspaper obituary), a discrepancy not resolved here.
