Rugby league history
This ground hosted rugby league's historic first match in Toowoomba on 6/7 July 1908, a Queensland Firsts win over a touring New Zealand Maori side that ended in controversy when a Maori player was sent off, sparking a brawl involving spectators. It later hosted a 1913 fixture between Queensland Firsts and a touring New Zealand side. Independently re-confirmed via direct re-fetch of Rugby League Project's own results page for this entry, the ground's third recorded match is a genuine anomaly worth disclosing: a 1911 NSWRFL Reserve Grade fixture between two Sydney sides, Easts and South Sydney Federals, which is surprising to find recorded at a Toowoomba venue and could not be corroborated by any source beyond Rugby League Project itself.
