Rugby league history
A regional Riverina (southwest NSW) ground and long-time home of the Temora club, best known as a venue in the Maher Cup -- the prestigious interclub challenge competition contested by Group 9 region towns from the 1920s onward -- which the ground hosted through the 1920s, 1930s and on into the 1960s. Also staged at least one first-class touring match, when a Riverina representative side played the 1963 New Zealand Kiwis. Rugby league had reached Temora by 1914, with a club formed at the town's Railway Hotel, though the ground itself only appears in the match record used here from the mid-1920s.
