Name history
Rugby league history
Wamoon Park's two recorded matches, both July 1969, sit at an unusual moment in the history of the Maher Cup, a prestigious regional trophy normally contested among Group 9 clubs further east. Local Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area clubs including Wamoon were drawn into Maher Cup challenges that year -- Wamoon beat Cootamundra 14-0 and Gundagai 9-6 at home before losing the cup on to the Wagga Kangaroos -- part of a chaotic late-1960s period that accelerated the historic cup's decline; it was retired in 1972.
