1933 NFL Season — Final Standings

Final regular-season standings for the first season under the NFL's new Eastern/Western Division structure and scheduled championship game — a direct response to the awkward tie-based process that had produced the prior year's improvised indoor playoff. The Giants and Bears both won their divisions, with Chicago beating New York 23-21 in the first-ever NFL Championship Game at Wrigley Field. The league expanded from 8 to 10 teams, adding three new franchises: the Philadelphia Eagles, the Pittsburgh Pirates (renamed Steelers in 1940), and the Cincinnati Reds (a different, since-folded franchise, unrelated to the later Cincinnati Bengals). The Boston Braves, who had debuted in 1932, were renamed the Boston Redskins for this season, playing out of Fenway Park.
